The man who has won the most Grammy Awards may come as a surprise to most of you. He certainly isn't a household name but is still very deserving of the 31 Grammy Awards he won during his career in music. Sir Georg Solti has won 31 Grammy Awards making him the highest earner of Grammys. Sir Georg Solti, a Hungarian British conductor for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra has a 4 Grammy statue lead on the next closest person in the Grammy race.

Following behind Georg Solti are two artist that are currently tied with 27 Grammy Awards. The two artist are Quincy Jones and Alison Krauss.

Jones has had 79 Grammy nominations during his career and has currently won 27 of those nominations. Jones also has a Grammy Legend Award which he received in 1991. Jones is known as a record producer, conductor, arranger, television producer, composer, film producer, instrumentalist, jazz trumpeter, and record company executive. He has his hands in many places and has become quite a force to be reckoned with.


Alison Krauss is an American Blue Grass country singer. She first entered the music industry at age 10 after winning a local music contest. By the time Krauss was 14 she was already recording her first record. Over her career Krauss has released 14 albums, had 41 Grammy nominations, winning 27 of them. Krauss is the most awarded singer and the most awarded female artist in Grammy history.


After Jones and Krauss are two individuals who may or may not be well known outside of the music business. Receiving 26 and 25 Grammy Awards, Pierre Boulez and Vladimir Horowitz follow Jones and Kraus on the Grammy Awards list.

Pierre Boulez is a French composer, conductor, writer, and pianist. Boulez has won 26 Grammy Awards making him fourth in line.

Horowitz was a Russian born American classical pianist who was born in 1903 and died in 1989. Horowitz is widely considered the greatest pianist of the twentieth century and well known in the pianist world. Horowitz received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1990.

Following two unknown artists outside the music world are two artist that are famous inside and outside of the music world. U2 and Stevie Wonder come in sixth place tied with 22 Grammy Awards.

U2 is an Irish rock band from Ireland. The band has been performing for decades and continues to remain relevant in today's music industry. The band has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and is one of the best selling bands ever.


Stevie Wonder is one of Motown's most famous performers. He has had mega hit singles such as "Superstitious", "I Just Called To Say I Love You", and "You Are the Sunshine of My Life." Wonder received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1996.

  • Kanye West and John Williams are tied in 8th place with 21 Grammy Awards. West is a rapper, more recently known for his public outburst and marriage to Kim Kardashian. Williams is an American composer, conductor, and pianist.   • 17 th place is tied between 3 individuals: Sir Paul McCartney, Aretha Franklin, and Jimmy Sturr. McCartney was a member of The Beatles but went on to have a successful solo career. Franklin is a soul singer with hits such as "RESPECT", "Chain of Fools", and "Think". Sturr is an American polka musician who plays the trumpet, clarinet, and saxophone.
