Beyoncé Knowles' Rise To Fame:Best Songs by Beyoncé and Best Songs by Destiny's Child
Beyoncé The Early Years
There are probably very few people on the planet Earth who don’t know who Beyoncé Knowles is, but for the very few that may not know about her here it goes…. Beyoncé is one of the few artists/celebrities known by just one name. She follows in the footsteps of Madonna, Prince, and Oprah. However, Beyoncé's birth name was Beyoncé Giselle Knowles. But after marrying Jay-z, her legal name is now Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter. She was born September 4, 1981, in Houston Texas.
From a very early age it was obvious Beyoncé had incredible singing talent. She attended a magnet music school in Houston and was soon a part of the choir. Soon she was winning talent shows and catching the eyes of talent agents. The first girl group she was a member of was called Girl Tyme. As a member of Girl Tyme Beyoncé met longtime friend Kelly Rowland at age eight. Girl Tyme won a spot to compete on talent show “Star Search” however, the group did not win. Upon their failure, Beyoncé's father quit his regular job to manage Beyoncé and Kelly's girl group. Soon the group Destiny’s Child was formed and after a few failed attempts with other record labels were finally signed to Columbia Records.
Destiny's Child
Destiny’s Child’s first album in 1997 rewarded the girls with their first chart topper. “No, No, No.” The success of “No, No, No” won the girls various awards at the Soul Train Awards. Following up the success of “No, No, No”, the girls next album “The Writing’s on the Wall” was an even bigger success for Destiny’s Child. In 1999, three songs from “The Writing’s on the Wall” became chart toppers and spawned their biggest hit to date “Say My Name”. Other hits from their second album included “Bills, Bills, Bills” and “Jumpin Jumpin.” However, it was not paradise for all of the members of Destiny’s Child. Two members were unhappy with the management they were receiving from Beyoncé's father and they were replaced by two new memebers. Soon only one replacement remained, Michelle Williams. Now Destiny’s Child was a trio.
The new Destiny’s Child recorded their next song “Independent Women”, which landed on the soundtrack for the movie “Charlie’s Angels.” Upon finishing their next album the trio found success with “Bootylicious” and “Survivor.”
Beyoncé Goes Solo
At the same time the trio was experiencing success, so was Beyoncé on her own. As Beyoncé was breaking into the acting world, and her solo singing career was taking off Destiny’s Child when on a permanent hiatus, after the release of 2004 “Destiny Fulfilled”, which gave the trio two more hits in “Soldier” and “Lose My Breath.”
On her own now, Beyoncé released her first solo album “Dangerously In Love” , which spawned hits such as “Crazy In Love”, “Baby Boy”, and “Me, Myself, and I.” “Dangerously In Love” remains Beyoncé's best selling solo album to date and won her five Grammy Awards. After Beyoncé's first successful solo album she followed it up with “B’Day” and “I am… Sasha Fierce.” After finishing her third album “I am…Sasha Fierce”, Beyoncé went on to win six more Grammy Awards. After the success of her third studio album she went onto release the album “4” and an unexpected fifth album in 2013.
While Beyoncé was becoming a singing sensation she was also making her dent in the acting world. She scored roles in “Dream Girls”, “The Pink Panther”, “Austin Powers”, “The Fighting Temptations”, and “Cadillac Records.” Her movies were never as successful as her singing career but she was being noticed, and critics praised her performances.
Beyoncé and Jay-Z and A Baby Carriage
Beyoncé married rapper/artist Jay-Z on April 4, 2008. On the MTV Music Video Awards in 2011, Beyoncé announced her pregnancy. It would be Beyoncé's and Jay-Z’s first child. On January 7, 2012 Blue Ivy Carter was born. In 2014, Jay-Z and Beyoncé co-headlined “On the Run Tour.”
